Masashi Sada, a singer-songwriter and a novelist, was born in Nagasaki, Japan in 1952.
Sada debuted in 1973 as folk duo “Grape” and made his solo debut in 1976.
He has released many nationally recognized hit songs including “Kanpaku Sengen” (Chauvinism
Declaration), and “Kita no Kuni Kara” (From the North Country).
Since Sada’s solo debut, he has performed over 4,600 concerts in total.
He is also a novelist, publishing works such as ``Gege'' and ``The Lion Standing Against the Wind.''
Sada is also will known as the host of NHK’s program “Tonight Live with Masashi Sada.”
In 2015, Sada established the Lion Standing Against the Wind Foundation, a general
incorporated foundation (a public interest incorporated foundation) to carry out various grant
projects, award projects, and support projects for disaster-stricken areas.
On October 25, 2022, Sada celebrated his 50th anniversary since his debut and he has been on
a nationwide anniversary concert tour.
